Life changing events happening lately...

Tue Jul 7, 2009, 4:31 PM
First some details related to the story...

My ancestors emigrated from Bulgaria into Romania during the days of the Ottoman slavery. After the Bulgarian Liberation my grandparents returned to Dobrudja where they live to this very day. The fact that they were born in Romania gives me the chance (as a person who has some kind of Romanian origin) to study in a Romanian university without having to participate in any kind of tests and free of taxes. :)

That's all fine... the only thing I had to do was to stick a folder full of various documents and go to Sofia for a so-called "interview". And so I did! After a long, sleepless night spent in the smelly train compartment I arrived in our great capital, went to the Romanian embassy and sat down, waiting... After all the papers ware properly filled up with information I stepped in the room in which the interview was about to take place.

And this is when the interesting part of this story begins ;)

My main two subjects of choice in this order were: graphic design and then web design; but when I gave these two requests the answer was: "There are no vacant places" So I turned to my backup plan... "OK... could you sign me under Informatics technology?" - I asked. Answer: "No, the seats for this subject are full as well..."

:O_o: I was beginning to get very nervous...

They were trying to propose some humanitarian subjects, but I rejected. Luckily one of the interviewers spotted the photos that I brought with me in the back of the folder. And then the saving question ringed through my ears: "Do you like photography?" - she asked me. I replied: "Yes, as a matter of fact that was my final option for a university subject". The two women looked at one another, then put my request in the document. So now I just have to wait and see if I am accepted to study in the University of Bucharest or the one in Cluj. It turned out my hobby saved my candidate student camping from being a failure. :D

Thanks for reading, and have a successful day... like I did :)
